Dear Mike,

I just finished watching your latest swimbait video and it was awesome! I’m only thirteen so I can’t drive a boat on my own (although I know how) so I have to fish from shore or from a kayak by myself most of the time. I learned some great areas to throw baits, and I also learned what baits to throw and when. I live here in San Diego and would love to go fishing with you some time!

Sincerley,

Patrick

Great video! Maybe I should start to throw smaller swimbaits in summer months. I never caught a nice bass in summer on a swimbait, maybe because I always used 6″ and bigger swimbaits.

Mike, I tried to put internal jig heads on Basstrix swimbaits but I have a problem: If I retrieve the bait slowly the tail doesn’t swim. If I retrieve faster the bait will corkscrew! I tried diferent styles of jigheads and different weights and none of them worked. What should I do?

Thanks Marco, I have some more great videos coming soon…as for the Basstrix swimbait I need to see which bait and jig head your using to tell what’s going on…ML

Mike, I tried 4″ Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbaits with 1/4oz Gamakatsu Round Jig Heads. That was one of the combos I tried. Maybe the line tie should get closer to the nose of the bait? I’m thinking about trying 1/4oz Yamamoto Hula Grub Heads. The head is not round and the line tie is in the tip. I only buy from Tackle Warehouse because the shipping to Portugal is cheap, but they don’t have Kalin’s Ultimate Jig Head…
